Dusky Alley

Indian fashion beauty lifestyle blogger styleapastiche, bangalore fashion blogger, How to wear yellow Indian Kitsch Prints

Dusky alley, she walks alone

Eyes hidden under a veil of black stone

For what her eyes say, cannot be said in words

And her words will never find its way

through this noisy world

Scared, yet again, of another heartbreak

She walks away, away from this world

For the World is too Cruel in it’s ways

While rough times are here to stay

And pain feels more like an ally than a nemesis

In a Dusky Alley, she walks all alone

Eyes hidden under a veil of black stone

When a traveller refers to anything as Indian, they usually mean something exotic and something kitschy and something busy. But to be honest you don’t need anything busy or gaudy printed to represent anything Indian. We can simply turn to the daily life scenes / objects to make them as kitsch prints on your fabric, I’ve seen a variety of them like those teapots, cutting chai glasses, rickshaws, bold hindi letters, elephants, lotus, nimbu and mirchis, lorries etc.

Indian Kitsch Prints are everywhere, I guess we are more open to such irregular patterns now more than ever before. I do see a lot of women adorned, in these irregular prints of Indian daily life. So, I thought why not style an outfit that would highlight this trend this Summer 2016. The prints are fun and the look is my way of making it Contemporary with a touch of Indian Ethnic. The reason why I picked those pearl and brass jhumkas, which perfectly add the Indian touch to this look.

Variations: You could turn this maxi to a maxi kurta and wear a white palazzo or a slim fit cotton salwar that ends at the ankle. This will serve as a daily wear look, pair it with mojris, a tan bag and you can take this to a casual dinner with family. Another variation is to wear it with a pair of stiletto heel pumps to make it look high street.
